One of the purposes of sentencing is deterrence, and that purpose has already been achieved. They have all been publicly shamed. What’s more important is general deterrence. What best achieves that is educating these men that prostitution is complex, dangerous, violent against women many are young, have issues, and are addicted to drugs… I’m trying to raise awareness that it’s not just about sex. You have to look at the context, and the context is the heroin epidemic in the state. We have 16, 17-year-olds prostituting themselves to feed their addiction. It provides us an opportunity to raise awareness of the larger issue here.”
20-year plea deal reportedly offered to 2 accused of making teen work as prostitute.
MOUNT HOLLY — The couple accused of holding a teenage girl for days and forcing her to work as a prostitute without pay has been offered 20-year sentences in exchange for pleading guilty to just one of the charges against them, according to a report.
Adria Regn, 28, of Mount Holly, and Christopher White, 19, of Eastampton, are accused of luring a 17-year-old girl to a Mount Holly motel, telling her they needed a babysitter for Regn’s two young children.
The two appeared separately Tuesday in Burlington County Superior Court, where they pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to the Burlington County Times. The lengthy list of charges includes conspiracy, human trafficking of a minor, organized street crime and promotion of prostitution, according to the Burlington County Times.
A plea deal offered by the Attorney General’s Office would give them both 20 years in prison without parole, and levy a $25,000 fine on each, the report said. That sentence is the mandatory minimum for human trafficking, which is the sole charge to which they would plead.
Without the deal, the human trafficking charge alone could land White and Regn in prison for 20 years to life, while organized street crime carries a 15- to 30-year sentence. Each could face fines of more than $200,000 if convicted.
Regn and White are accused of holding the teen in motels for 10 days during October 2016. They gave her drugs, posted photos of her in various states of undress online and advertised her services as an escort, authorities said.
The girl was forced to have sex with as many as five men a day while Regn and White stayed in the room or in an adjoining room, authorities said. They allegedly threatened her with violence, and told her that Regn’s two young children would go hungry without the money.
The girl eventually fled the motel while the couple slept.

A Burlington County couple are accused of forcing a 17-year-old girl to work as a prostitute for 10 days by threatening to beat her and making her take drugs after meeting the pair in a motel room for what she thought was a babysitting job.
Christopher K. White, 19, of Eastampton, and his girlfriend, Adria Regn, 28, of Mount Holly, were indicted by a state grand jury Monday on charges that included conspiracy, human trafficking, promoting the prostitution of a minor, and child pornography, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said.
According to the indictment, the couple allegedly prostituted the girl at South Jersey motels after they posted nude photos of her on Backpage.com advertising her as an “escort.” They also allegedly forced her to inhale crystal methamphetamine with them while working as a prostitute.
“This is a classic case of human trafficking where these defendants allegedly trapped an underage girl in dehumanizing circumstances in which they gave her drugs and forced her to have sex with multiple men per day,” Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino said in a news release Tuesday.
